Vers knows that in the creation of any
mass-produced product, there is going to be a certain amount of resources
needed to manufacture, transport, and manage the product throughout their
useful lives. However, Vers works hard every day to be better in every imaginable
way, so not only do their Vers 2X and Vers 1.5R have great sound, but they’re
more efficient, less toxic, and made out of renewable materials.
The Eucalyptus and Pine wood stock chosen
for the MDF core of Vers comes from locally managed plantations near their
factory and any trees that are used are replanted. Every part of the tree is
used: trunks, roots, bark, branches, and twigs. This large use of wood used in
a Vers system replaces 80% of what could have been plastic. Not only is the
plastic in the Vers systems replaced, but the plastic bags and foam packing
materials used in the boxes are replaced with post-consumer recycled paper bags
and recycled pulp paper. This has allowed Vers to reduce the size of their
boxes by 12%. Lots of small choices can add up to a big difference in the end.
Vers 2X and Vers 1.5R both have a Class D
amplifier, which produces the same sound of less energy, or better sound for
the same energy and produces a lot less waste heat than traditional Class AB amplifiers.
In addition, all Vers systems use switching-type power adaptors, which draw 30%
less power than traditional non-switching adaptors under full load and when
powered off draw up to 90% less energy. Vers systems also address the problem
of overfilling landfills with electronic waste by making all Vers systems 100%
RoHS (Reduction of Hazardous Substances) compliant. This means that there is no
Lead, Mercury, Cadmium, Hexavalent chromium, Polybrominated biphenyls or
Polybrominated diphenyl ether in any of the Vers systems. This is just another
step in the right direction toward making this world a greener place. These
differences in the Vers systems make them worth the money; more sound for less
energy and toxic waste is a good thing.
